These boxes are manufactured for us by Eagle Creek Exotics, according to specifications that we developed through our experience with breeding and raising parrotlets. Since these are our exclusive design, you won't find them for sale anywhere else!
Our nest box is made of durable 1/4" black ABS plastic. This material is parrotlet beak-proof, dishwasher-proof, and opaque. Between clutches, simply pop it in your dishwasher to sanitize it!
The special design of the rear-opening door helps to prevent fly-outs when checking eggs, as well as providing an easy way to scoot stubborn hens off their nests and prevent their pirhana-like attacks while you are candling eggs or pulling babies.
Because we have found that front-mounted boxes work best for privacy-loving parrotlets, we have designed our box to use as little space as possible, to fit on just about any parrotlet-sized breeding cage without blocking doors or feed cup openings. We designed a new mounting method that is easy to install and remove, and eliminates the usual 1" extension at the top of the box that made the inside of the box 1" shorter.
Our nestbox measures 8" tall by 6" wide and 6" deep. The rear-opening door leaves space for 2.5" of shavings in the bottom without spilling any when opened.
These durable boxes can be used time and time again; they will last for YEARS. The price is $17.50 per box. The shipping cost for one nestbox is $10.00; add $3.00 for each additional box. Please plan ahead and order in plenty of time for when you want to set up your pairs! Orders normally take 6 weeks for construction and delivery, but during breeding season this may be extended due to the large number of orders being processed by Eagle Creek.
